WISHES by Skydancer (Skydance8@aol.com) Skydance Note: The characters in Gargoyles and everything pertaining to them belong to the people of Disney. They are not mine (I'm not that imaginative) and I am making no money off of them. This is purely for my own enjoyment. Anything else made up belongs to me. This is my first fanfic so just bare with me as I go along. I have a habit of improving as time goes on. Comments are welcome, but only constructive ones. Setting is set two days after Hunter's Moon. This is a short prologue of three longer stories to come. Elisa Maza looked up into the night sky, searchingly. It had been two days. Two days since she'd seen Goliath. Two days since she had jumped up and boldly kissed him right before he turned into stone sleep. Scanning the sky, she wondered if she had done the right thing. They hadn't exactly said that they loved each other, though they had hinted at it. Would it work between the two of them, a gargoyle and human? Something that had never, as far as she knew, been? Scanning the night sky again, Elisa's thoughts drifted back over the last two years of her life since the gargoyles had entered it. Before meeting them, she had thought of gargoyles only as glorified rainspouts. Then came the night that she decided to investigate Xanatos's castle atop the Aerie Building. The night that she now considered one of the best of her life. The night she met Goliath. Elisa's face flushed with embarrassment as she remembered her first reaction to seeing Goliath and Bronx. She had heard of ladies swooning in front of a man before, but falling off of a building was going a bit overboard in her opinion. But the giant gargoyle seemed to take it all in stride as he had swooped down and caught her. His only comment about it was a request of her not to fall off the castle for a second time that night. Smiling, Elisa turned her mind back to the present as she scanned the sky looking to see if Goliath would appear tonight. Goliath looked down from the rooftop onto Elisa's balcony. He had been watching her for some time and knew that she was waiting for him. As she had been waiting for him for the past two nights. Both times he had come with the intention of talking to her about the moment they had kissed and what it meant to both of them. Both times he had backed down. Disappointing both himself and her. Her most of all. Watching her, Goliath wondered if there ever was a time when he had not loved her. In the two years since he had first laid eyes on her, and caught her at the same meeting falling of the castle roof, he had thought her beautiful even though she was a human. She was the first human to offer to be his and the other gargoyles' guide in this strange new land, the first to prove her loyalty by protecting him during the day from Xanatos's goon squad, the first human to look at him and despite his differences call him friend. And now it would seem, Elisa would be the first human to look at him and call him her love, if he read her correctly. He owed it to her and himself to finally go down and speak to her. To find out where they would go. If anywhere at all. "Wish I may Wish I might..." Elisa sighed to herself. "Wish on the first star I see tonight. What do you wish for Elisa?" Goliath asked as he softly landed on her rooftop. "Goliath! I was beginning to think...." she stopped. "That I wouldn't come?" he finished softly for her. "Yes. Where have you been? I've been waiting to speak about what happened the other night. I thought maybe I had gone...too far." she said. "I have been here, Elisa, watching you. And no, you didn't go to far. You could never go to far." "Then why? Why haven't you come? You know you can say anything to me. You know that you are my best friend." she said with puzzlement on her face. Goliath turned from her and looked back out over the night sky. "Elisa, what I feel for you is more than just a 'friend.' I was unsure of how to express that. Unsure if you would welcome such an advance from one such as me. I am a gargoyle, Elisa. I am not a human male. I can not offer you what a human male might be able to." "Goliath, do you love me?" she asked quietly. Whirling around and looking at her as though his life depended on it he sighed a very faint "Yes...." "Will you promise to always love me, no matter what?" she went on. "Of course. Elisa, you have my love and devotion until my last breath. And no matter what your feelings, I promise always to protect you..." he stated very strongly and clearly so that there would be no room for doubt. Elisa smiled. "That is all I ever wanted from a human male, Goliath. And why should I want a human male when I love you?" Goliath opened his arms and his wings out to her. "Then come to me my love...come to me my lady, my dream." Elisa ran across the rooftop and hurled herself into Goliath's waiting arms as they closed around her and his wings over them. She was loved and she knew it. She would never want anything more. Goliath bent down and rubbed his cheek across the top of Elisa's soft hair. Breathing in her fresh scent he looked back out over the night sky as more and more stars streaked across the heavens. All was finally right in his world. Elisa was his, finally. She had stated it as such. His treasure, his love, his life. Smiling contentively, Goliath looked back down at the precious jewel in his arms. "What do you wish for, Elisa?" he asked her again. Elisa looked up and smiled back at him, the starlight dancing in her warm chocolate brown eyes. "I don't have to wish for anything, Goliath. All I ever wanted is right here in my arms." To Be Continued..... (Well, what do you think? Should I keep on writing?)
