An E-Mail From Dean Devlin About Gargoyles

(Posted Nov. 25, 1996)

I'm happy to answer your questions though I don't know if they're the answers you and the fans will want to hear.

My script of GARGOYLES will be very different from the t.v. series. And YES I do watch the cartoon and I love it! I think it's fantastic. But I don't think it's a movie. Or at least, no yet. Perhaps as sequels to my script. But, I'm not the producer of the film and the company Roland Emmerich and I have called CENTROPOLIS (www.centropolis.com) has nothing to do with the production of the film. I'm only the writer and have very little control over how it will be made.

My script will focus on only one Gargoyle who will be somewhat like the Goliath character in the animated series, but his story will be different.

And, yes, there will be a strong love story at the scripts center, ala Beauty and the Beast. What I'm attempting to do is create a modern gothic tale set in the midst of the coldest winter in the history of Manhattan.

I'm quite fond of this script and I'm really anxious to watch it evolve into a feature film. If they handle it right, (when making the movie) I think it could really be something special.

Feel free to post up this letter if you like.

Best wishes,

Dean Devlin
